British Beardmore WB III Fighter Plane

Deployed in 1917, towards the end of World War I – The British Beardmore WB III was a carrier based Fighter of The Royal Naval Air Service. It featured ''revolutionary'' folding Bi-wings for better storage on Carriers. The Beardmore however, was never adapted to carry Torpedoes. Only 100 of The Model were deployed and would be replaced by The Sopwith Camel ''Ships Pup''.

 

Crewed by (1), The WB III was 20-feet in length with a Bi-wing span of 25-feet. Power was provided by a single Le Rhone 9-Cylinder Engine, which produced 80-HP. Rated speed was 103-mph. It's operational ceiling was around 12,000-feet. Armament included a fixed .303 Lewis Machine Gun.
