Guimpe

by Crusader1307

The ''Guimpe'' was a High Middle Aged, Female fashion component, which was worn by Noblewomen. In essence a specially cut scarf or kerchief which was placed around the neck or throat. The Guimpe was starched to provide body. Often, The Guimpe featured lattice (lacework) to enhance it's appearance. The component was not joined to any other piece of clothing (worn freely). Variants would be incorporated into some Female Religious Orders, augmenting the traditional Wimple. By The Renaissance Era, The Guimple had fallen into disuse.
