Unused Lord Barclay Castle?

Recommended Posts

While rewriting our AI lords article, I've stumbled across this castle from lord Barclay which I've never seen before in-game. Has anyone else ever seen Lord Barclay use this Castle?

Hmm...is this v1.4.1? If there's a bastion tower in the corner that's hidden then I believe I have come across this design before. If not, then I haven't a clue!

Yes, it's 1.4.1. It's actually a Great Tower - there's one in each of the four corners.

This is in the castle files as barclay01.aic but it never seems to be used, ever. My best guess is that it's partly because of its massive size and the fact it consumes so much stone (well over 1,500) Firefly must have axed it from the game but left it as a file. I'm honestly not sure.

** Edit **

The three castle designs are available here: https://www.strongholdnation.co.uk/article/268-lord-barclay-stronghold-2-ai-lords

Just got a new idea for a map. I could design a new AI that is allied to the human player, that does not produce any units but rather builds a historical castle for a human player. The human player is not allowed to place any walls, towers, or gatehouses. This means that the human player is *forced* to play from behind the confines of a historical castle. This would make historical castle skirmish scenarios possible. What do you think of this idea?

It was once said that it takes more than troops to win a war, and by heavens I hope that man spoke truth, for I have found myself in a situation no man, nor beast, would like to be part of. When one's reputation has been manipulated to nothing but cinders, there is little chance for them. I, Lord Steel, have no allies in these lands I once called my own. These lands were once a place of war and terror. I, along with few friends, brought peace via strength and diplomacy when I was a young man. So

I'm not much of a moat guy, I mainly set up a border against the AI, but since laddermen bugged me for a long time, I decided to make their life harder by surrounding myself with moat. However, when I finished it, Barclay's siege forces paused and he didn't send more against me. At first, he had a high number of outlaws at home which tried to march then changed their minds and went back. When I tested him again, he literally held dozens of siege weapons at home (it made the game laggy to look at

    • A castle builders opinion

As I intend to upload several castles more I should introduce myself a little bit more. I know stronghold since 2004 and Idesigned since this time lots oc castles, I don?t remember how many. But I hadn`t had Internet for a long time, and I wasn`t interested in uploading too. I am primarily a castle builder, less a strategist. Hence, the scripts were rather weak just at the beginning. I still use Stronghold 1, just because I am a castle builder. The old play enables to combine all elements u

Whilst this clearly isn't a huge castle, it's still pretty awesome. As castle lovers, I'm sure we all envy this! :D
