I've used WAV files before to change sounds, and that worked fine for me. Were you using MP3? If so, change it to WAV, you can use a converter here - I'm about 90% sure that the game only accepts WAV files because that's what's coded into it.

how about the mounted knights as reinforcements?

I changed the mp3 sounds to wav but everything is the same. there is still no sound. This is for my minas tirith map, the only problems i would like to solve is the attacking speeches of every soldier I edited. I already submitted it on the other day and if ever I succesfully changed the attacking speeches I will update it XD

But be aware, there are some that just won't work. (Don't know why).

To @Black King I think this may answer your question. I'm not too sure why this may be unfortunately, hopefully you find a workaround :)

I didn't officially convert mine, I used Audacity's converter to do it and it worked every time. I haven't done this in a while, but have you tried one file using that? Also note that the file names must be exactly the same, (CaSe Sensitive!) otherwise the game will not allow it to work.

Regarding your other question, there is most certainly a way to do it, but I'm not sure off-hand. Perhaps @Lord Vetka could give us a answer there.

I have used mounted knights on maps before, but that was a long time ago, I just did a test and the knights I scripted as reinforcements came in on foot, but the knight I placed on the map came in mounted, I could be wrong but I think if you want mounted knights on the map, it has to be done while you are making the map.

You could sneak them in, maybe place the knights you want in a corner some where in a small walled section on enemy territory and use an enemy near a marker to switch the territory to you so you can ride out of the gate that now belongs to you. I have also used enemy near a marker to change ownership of a gate to you.

If you use the enemy near a marker, I make the territory enemy then you are the enemy triggering the marker.

I hope that helps. Play around with it and see what you can do, if you want more help, just ask!

Well @Lord Vetka has just helped me understand what you needed.

While in map editor placing knights will result in them automatically being mounted. If using knights as reinforcements they should be mounted automatically. That's how it has always been for me, I recall making many maps where Lord Barclay would have knights in his invasions and they would be mounted. Although it has been a while and it might be different, if I am wrong, I'll try and figure it out for you once I have some more time :)

Version 1.4 is unstable - you should either be using 1.3.1 or 1.4.1. The 1.4.1 update can be found in our SH2 miscellaneous downloads section.

I use 1.4.1 which is the latest patch. Not many people use 1.4 so switching over to 1.4.1 might benefit you in more than one way :)

I really wanted to switch to 1.4.1 but it's always the same. It says successful when I update it but when I play and test it byI moving a knight who's attempting to mount on a horse, the horse just stand their and the knight can't mount anymore. In my previous years playing stronghold 2 I was able to play 1.4.1 on other computer, its just now I can't find the answer why it's not working.

You might have corrupted game files from to many changes over time, it would be a good idea to uninstall the game completely, then reinstall and allow the game to patch up to 1.4.1, when I do a reinstall, I will reinstall the game then run it, then restart my PC then manually install the next patch and do that with each patch until I'm patched to 1.4.1, I do it that way because I find I get a good clean install that way, also if you have removed the game, then I would clean the registry of any SH2 files before reinstalling.

Edit- Mathew, if you made a map and have Lord Barkley as your enemy and he is making troops then he will by default send out Mounted Knights, did you script him to send knights or is he doing it on his own?

I scripted an invasion where Lord Barclay was attacking, although he himself didn't have a territory. But it's worked both ways for me.

@Mathew Steel. I mean I already updated my stronghold 2 to 1.4.1 but all the bugs that been fix in 1.4.1, I can't see any changes when I play. I think Lord Vetka is right. The game files might be corrupted because I remember some time when I was playing stronghold 2 1.4.1. The knights are mounted when i set them as reinforcement. Everyone is right and the only problem is my game files, It's corrupted. Thanks guys XD

Glad you fixed it :)

Just a little tip, if you were referring to something I said earlier, you can quote what I said using the quote options. Simply click the button and write your message in between the 2 brackets :)

To change the attacking speeches for any soldier (assuming you have the new speeches you want to implement), navigate to your stronghold directory and find this location

C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefly Studios\Stronghold 2\fx\military speech

Here you will be able to see all the audio files of every military unit.

If you wanted to replace, say the 11th speech of an outlaw:

"Are you looking at me?!"

First, remember to BACKUP YOUR FILES and then replace the file "Outlaw_S11" with the new desired speech file, giving it exactly the same name. Then you can launch your game and after about 11 tries you will be able to hear it in game.

    • How to change your Lord in Multiplayer?

Hello, I'm a new member to the forum and I'm a huge fan of Stronghold 2. I would love to know if there's a way to change your Lord for multiplayer purposes. I use version 1.4.1 and through "GameRanger" I play with my friends. However I was wondering if there's a way to change my Lord to another Lord, for example The.Hawk. Lady Seren, etc... Is that possible? ?(I know it's possible for single player). Would it work in multiplayer? Will other players see me as "The.Hawk" or any other Lord I change

    • How to edit crusader.cfg and change the resolution for example?

Hi! The question says everything I think. I would like to see how this could be done, as a lot of players have this problem. Crusader HD, or Stronghold HD, is installed and the game chooses some high resolution which cannot be displayed, and because of this they get message "Out of range" or they simply get the black screen while they can hear the music and everything. I tried opening the file using notepad++, but I had no luck, I only saw some random characters, and lots of some "null"'s in bla

    • Units attacking villages

Is there something I should be aware of that will make your own units (and the opponents) not attack villages when going past them? (i.e. invading opponents' territory)   I've created a skirmish map which works perfectly apart from this one flaw, and it can be both disappointing and frustrating. It shows up as a village on the map preview, there are no teams set and it is a neutral estate.   I know I'm asking without a map so you may not be able to assist much, but is there anything that could s

Based on a lot of recent submitted maps, we are changing the way they are assessed before being approved. Now somewhat similar to driving tests, the maps will be assessed using majors and minors. Three minors create a major and one major means the map fails. We are hoping by releasing the list of how the maps are assessed, it may help a few more to make the pass mark, they are shown below:   Majors   Whether the file is related squareness of the map. • fire ballistae not attacking at will

Hi, I wanted to ask you about this one... As far as I remember, fire ballistae were attacking the enemies when they come into their range (just like an archer would), but I have tried building those now, and I see that they take no action when an enemy appears. Is this a common behavior of them, or is there something I could do, so they do attack the enemy, and act aggressive?   Thanks in advance! Regards, EaglePrince.
