"new items" tag missing at downloads section

Recommended Posts

Hi. I meant to tell that for a while I am not able to see from this website if there are any new files submitted to downloads section. Before I was able to see that "new items" tag near section or subsection name, but now the only way I could see if there are some new items would be to watch over dates when the latest file was submitted.

I did try clearing browser cash and clearing almost all browser data, but no success. I also tried to visit the downloads section using both - Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Same thing happens...

Next time there is a new file, try going to the corresponding link for that file's category here:

Stronghold 1

Stronghold Crusader

Stronghold Legends

CivCity Rome

Stronghold 2

Stronghold 3

Stronghold Crusader 2

Let me know what you get.

Right now each of those pages shows me that there are no new files.

It won't now as you've been logged in and out since the file was approved. When you logout (the same with threads) and that you haven't read get forgotten.

By the way, how to we access those pages?

By clicking the "[New]" link next to the corresponding category.

I'm not sure whether you've taken a look now, but it says:

Information

No new files have been found since your last visit.

If it doesn't say that, it's a script error, if it does, you'll need to tell me when you've logged in/out since that file was approved.

We'll wait until next time anyway, hopefully it's nothing. The only issue is, I can see it.

Several files have been submitted since, is this still an ongoing issue or has it been fixed?

I know what the problem is, but it isn't at the top of the priority list yet. I'll fix it when I've completed the current job.

I haven't had time to fix it yet, thanks for reminding me though as I'll get on to it tomorrow. It must be a fluke this time.

It is not the most important thing, I just taught you did fix it, and I wanted to let you know that it worked for me today.

Right now I am always looking at dates - by the date I can know if a new file has been submitted, so it's really not a top priority (at least not to me). :)

I've spent all day working on the last (known) bug in the downloads section (apart from the one above) and now when you update your files it's not only more secure, but quicker as well.

I'm making the files there more like topics so users can subscribe/unsubscribe to files and they will get notified about all replies after - it's easier than how it is now. And there will also be notifications of new comments/reviews on files as well when it's complete.

It will take an hour at the most to add in, and I can completely see the benefits so it's at the top of the to-do list tomorrow. :)

I believe it's been added in (along with avatars and other stuff from the forum) but the new items tag hasn't been tested yet, whereas everything else has been.

Here is an example, it just happens to be Lord Vetka's latest file: http://www.strongholdnation.co.uk/downloads/file/175-admindle/

That would be great to have a notification when people post to your map!

We had something like that at HG, I lost that somewhere and never did get it fixed, even though I asked a bunch of times.

Yes, these are only some of the updates, I'm also removing the user subscriptions (firstly, who actually uses them?) and the favourites and replacing it with download section subscriptions (when a new file is approved for download section X, you'll get an email if you want) and the same for files, the equivalent of topics here on the forum.

On the forum, you can scroll down the page and click the "subscribe" link to be emailed new replies to that topic - the exact same thing will be available in the downloads section for files in a few days.

I'll post a proper announcement out soon about the status, I've been updating a lot lately, including the gallery!

Just to let you know, I have notices the download center has slow uploads. Click on a map and it takes a while to load.

Yes, it's slightly slower than the rest there, it's off the extra data it now loads (the user avatar, rank, online status.etc) I've already added it to the list of things to optimise, I'll have a another go shortly but until that time we'll just have to stick with it.

@@EaglePrince: That's great news. I've added a one for comments/reviews now, when a new comment or review gets added it will appear as "New Posts".

I'm pleased to announce that after a small (and complex) renovation, the site downloads section is now back online and running as usual. You can now submit your files to us again. Not much has visually changed, however there have been massive changes behind the scenes that have taken many hours to complete. I've essentially rewritten the entire downloads section from the ground up and restructured all of the database tables, which is not easy considering it's live data. One of the major cha

Good day to ye all! I trust you are doing well.   With an increase in uploads being made to SHN Download Central, I thought now would be a good time to set a reminder on what we define as a "good quality map" as this is what will determine the fate of your upload.   "Good Quality" It may be surprising to hear but your map doesn't need to be the most beautiful, with the best storyline, and the most interesting gameplay, for it to pass as a good quality map.
