Sh2 Ai Editor Help (Noob)

Recommended Posts

Not sure how active this forums is, or if anyone here is able to assist.

Was having fun recently with Stronghold 2, and came across the AI editor.  (Program from this site, to create/edit .aic files for starting castle templates for the various AI personalities in game)

I am trying to learn how to use it, but when I open it, it wont maximize.  I am using windows 10, the program seems to be opening and running fine, I just cant see it in its entirety.

To be 100% clear on the direct problem, there is no 'maximize' option in the window (its there, its just greyed out).  I cannot resize the window (no arrows to click and drag to make smaller/larger).  With this, I cannot see the entire program, the bottom is hidden which means I cannot access all the menu options, and also cannot scroll the map left/right.

I have tried google to see if there was some simple fix, tried a bunch of 'maximize' programs but no luck so far, if anyone has any further tips I'd appreciate it.

Once again, to be clear, this issue is with the SH2 AI editor program, and im using windows 10 on PC.  I have no issues with the actual game (Stronghold 2).

Welcome to the Nation, @GamerBillii! I hope you find your stay here a pleasant one

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the maximise function just isn't available in the AI Editor. It's been disabled for some reason. I don't know why as I wasn't active in its development.

The Stronghold 2 AI Editor was created all the way back in, I think, 2008 by Lord Britain and HicRic among others from Stronghold Knights. I do have contacts with some of the former admins there, but as is always the case there's a lot of "ambiguity" around who created things, and who still has them .etc.... so sadly I don't have the source code of this application to be able to make any changes to it.

If so, I would actually create a Stronghold Legends AI editor too, because the AI castles in Stronghold Legends work in exactly the same way as those in Stronghold 2. I don't have the relevant Java knowledge to be able to do something like this from scratch unfortunately, but I am sure there is someone out there who does.

However, I have emailed the only address I have for HicRic to see if he responds. He may be able to provide the source code of this application to us, so that I could also update it and make sure it still runs efficiently in 2020.

Microsoft changed what the F1 key does: it pulls open the Bing browser (eww) and opens a useless help file. (why????) In the Stronghold Crusader AIV editor, F1 did a critical function: SAVING the file in progress. I believe Firefly was a bit lazy when they designed the AIV editor because they didn't think that anyone would be using it nearly 20 years later - the AIV editor does not have a save file button! Hello, Within the map editor, I am trying to make a trigger where the player takes control of an AI player for a period of time (like in the military campaign, or when you take over Sir William?s estate to gain him honour while he is gone). Does anyone know how to do this? I saw something about controlling AI and it says enabled or disabled... but it seems to not do what I want it to do. Feel free to DM me or reply here! Thanks :)

    • Stronghold 2 Scenario Editor Question

In the Stronghold 2 (and Stronghold Legends) scenario editor, is there another set of keys one can use when setting things like the start date without using the mouse wheel? (I honestly see no reason why there isn't since some people play on laptops and not all computer mice have wheels, but there is no indicator there is an alternative to using the mouse wheel in the documentation.)

Hi, I have found Stronghold 2 AI Editor at Heaven Games, and I have downloaded, and I tried using it. http://stronghold2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=490   There are two Williams castles that needed to be fixed, so I did that - he had problems because of the moat (that was the issue on both castles), so I removed the moat, and he had two towers with doors to outside instead of to inside (that is on one castle), so I deleted those two towers and I put those with correct orientat
