Mission Objectives:

• Win: Destroy Outlaw Camp
• Lose: Your Lord Dies

Compared to the last few missions, this is just a piece of Cake! Your only objective is to destroy the outlaw camp, which you may have already completed in previous chapters if you followed our walkthrough. And, to make things even easier, you already have a sizable army to start this process straight away. Even better, Sir William provides you with several Swordsmen.

You probably have way more bows in your Armoury than you will ever need, so start by selling them down to a sensible number again. Then recruit as many archers as are available at any one time. It may be worth temporarily restructuring your castle to remove any unnecessary buildings so you can recruit a bigger army. Now, send all of your troops out over to near the flagpole of Sir Grey's secondary estate. Line them up in the following formation: Spearmen in front, Swordsmen in the middle, and Archers behind.

Spearmen are by far the most expendable unit you have, and Archers need all the protection they can get. Slowly, advance your units forward destroying all the outlaws in your path. Once you have destroyed all those at the bottom of the hill, you will need to change strategy. The Crossbowmen on the walls will make quick work of your swordsmen and spearmen, so you will temporarily have to leave those to one side. March all of your archers halfway up the hill and take out the few lone guards, first.

Depending on how far up the hill you get will depend on whether or not the the Archers will start to fire at you. If this is the case leap immediately into the second stage of the assault. If this is not the case, you have a few more moments to prepare yourself for the second stage. Move all your melee troops up to attack any soldiers still remaining on the ground, for example guarding the gateway into their camp. Separate your Archers into two groups and send one to the left and the other to the right, both positioned in front of the wall. If you get the chance during the fight, aim your Arhcers specifically at the crossbowmen. They do far more damage than Archers, and are harder to kill.

Even a superficial look at the results of this suggests you will lose a lot of men. You may need to recruit more men before continuing at this stage, but hopefully you will have done some serious damage to the enemy on the wall.

If this is indeed the case, then temporarily bring your melee units back down to the bottom of the hill again and await until you can build up more Archers. This time your troop numbers can be much smaller, so with around you are ready to begin. Move all your troops to the center of the gateway and attack all of the Crossbowmen and Archers still present on walls. Once this is done, that's the hardest part of this level finished.

Unfortunately for the next move, you will have to send some melee troops through into the outlaws' camp. You can also send through your Archers if you don't mind losing a few. Attack the few troops on walls and protecting the entrance to the camp. Next, you need to send all of your Archers around to the bottom of the map, and target the troops in and around the outlaw camp.

Once you've taken out the guards protecting the camp, move your troops right up to it so that they will kill off any outlaws that are generated from now on. Finally, move in all your melee troops, and just destroy the outlaw camp. Finally, after all this make sure you save your game, and then we can proceed!
